The truth of neurodiversity

November 26, 2019

Let’s stop pathologising our children.
.
Let’s stop forcing responsibility onto vulnerable children instead of taking responsibility as adults and admitting fault in a system that is and has been consistently failing children since it’s conception.
.
Let’s stop comparing those children who can with those children who can’t and calling it choice.
.
Let’s stop encouraging parents to overlook their children’s support needs and their strengths based on their incapacity to sit in an institution and be told what to learn, when to learn it and how to do it.
.
Let’s start authentically valuing free thinking.
.
Let’s start offering alternatives to the one, universal expectation we currently assume all children will comply with.
.
Let’s start telling the truth of neurodiversity.
.
All brains matter, all brains are valuable, and there is most certainly far more than one way to learn.
.
