Connecting with our children

Updated: Mar 1

When we connect with our children

We’ll often find that what we think is best

What others tell us is best

What society says is best

May often be the opposite

Of what makes them feel safe.

It’s okay to celebrate birthdays without the party

It’s okay to spend more time at home than out

It’s okay to unschool or home educate

It’s okay to say no

It’s okay to be gentle, flexible,

To compromise, collaborate,

To change our minds

It’s okay to say Yes

To reschedule, to cancel.

It’s okay to fit the stereotype

Or to defy it

It’s okay to eat white bread and take a multivitamin

It’s okay to co sleep

And to catch up from no sleep

How important is it?

Can we let it go?

Is this a priority?

Are we happy?

Are our little people happy, safe, connected?

Then it’s okay. . . Kristy Forbes inTune Pathways
